The Cross and Rings
The cross and the rings, a symbol of one
Between married believers and God's only Son.
All three are locked in such a way
To show the unity forward from this day.
The parts tell a story of the lives of three:
The man, the wife, and the One most holy.
The rustic cross tells of no greater love
Of Jesus who died and then rose above.
He suffered and died: the payment of sin
For all who trust Him as Savior of men.
The rings on the cross - one for husband, one for wife -
Locked on to the cross signifying eternal life.
Each would be there because on one day
Separately joined to the cross right away
When confession of sin each had to God prayed
And accepted the offer of eternal life Jesus gave.
The interlocked rings that can't come undone
Show the scriptural truth "The two shall become one."
Marriage is a covenant for life, ending never.
What God joined together, let not man put asunder.
This means that the rings that can't come apart
Show the bond of the vow "Till death do us part."
The cross and the rings show the union of three:
God, man, and wife, the way it should be.
Security is ours In life, marriage, and loss
Through trusting in Jesus who died on the cross.
Focus on Him in sickness and health,
For richer and poorer, you will always have wealth.
Eternity Is forever, this life only short.
